What Fjord Is Not For
Fjord is not a DevSecOps suite and does not publish SOC 2 or ISO 27001 reports today. If those are central requirements, GitLab may fit better.
What "managed dedicated Forgejo" means, and what it is not
Fjord is upstream Forgejo on a single-tenant VM that belongs to you, with the upgrades, TLS, CI infrastructure and backups run for you. It is not self-hosting, because you are not the one paged when it breaks. It is not shared free hosting, because nothing else runs on your instance. It is not a generic VM with Forgejo installed on it, because the operating work is the product. If you are leaving GitLab Self-Managed, weigh the seat bill against that operating work: updates, backups, restores, runners, monitoring and incident ownership.
